چکیده

SUMMARY BACKGROUND: Percutaneous mitral balloon valvuloplasty and valve replacement have been the treatment options for stenosis several years, however, studies that compare these two modalities are very rare in literature. ObjectIve: In this article, we aim to investigate comparison of clinical results percutaneous replacement. Methods: 527 patients with rheumatic stenosis, treated or (276 251 replacement) from 1991 2012 were evaluated. The demographic characteristics, clinical, echocardiographic catheterization data evaluated retrospectively. early late follow-up after also Results: mean time group was 4.7 years and, replacement-group, it 5.45 years. hospital stay shorter than (2.02 days vs 10.62 days, p<0.001). mortality rate 0% 2% respectively (p=0.024). group, postprocedural success 92.1%. event-free survival found be similar. While reintervention higher valvuloplasty-group (p<0.001), replacement-group (p<0.001). Conclusion: seems more advantageous due low rates, easy application procedure no need general anesthesia.

Immediate Results of Percutaneous Mitral Balloon Valvuloplasty in Patients with Mitral Stenosis

Introduction: Mitral stenosis is a prevalent valvular disease in developing countries. Percutaneous mitral balloon valvuloplasty (PMBV) is the gold standard treatment. The main objective of this study was to assess the initial results of PMBV in patients with mitral stenosis during 16 years (2002-2018) in Mashhad, Iran. Materials and Methods: From April 2002 to March 2018, 770 patients underwen...

SHORT TERM CLINICAL OUTCOME OF PERCUTANEOUS BALLOON MITRAL VALVULOPLASTY VERSUS SURGICAL CLOSED MITRAL COMMISSUROTOMY

BaIlon mitral valvuloplasty and closed mitral valve conunissurotomy were performed in 450 and 127 patients, respectively. Also, 254 patients with severe mitral stenosis were enrolled in a prospective randomized trial comparing the two procedures. Immediately after balloon mitral valvuloplasty, mean left atrial pressure was 11.38±3.54 mmHg, transmitral valve gradient was 1.8±2 mmHg, and mit...

[Long term results of mitral balloon valvuloplasty].

BACKGROUND Mitral balloon valvuloplasty (MBV) is the therapy of choice for the treatment of symptomatic mitral stenosis with suitable anatomy. Although its short and mid-term results are favorable, there is a paucity of information about long-term follow-up. AIM To assess the late results of MBV. MATERIAL AND METHODS A cohort of 225 patients aged 8 to 20 years who were subjected to a MBV fr...

Percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty during pregnancy: long-term follow-up of infant growth and development.

We have studied the long-term growth and development of seven infants who had been exposed during the foetal stage to ionising irradiation associated with percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty between 1 April 1991 and 30 November 1993. We found that infants of mothers who underwent this procedure during the second and third trimester of pregnancy had normal long-term growth and development....

Long-term clinical and echocardiographic follow-up after percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty with the Inoue balloon.

BACKGROUND The objective of this study was to assess the long-term clinical outcome and valvular changes (area and regurgitation) after percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty (PMV). METHODS AND RESULTS After PMV, 561 patients were followed up for 39 (+/-23) months and clinical/echocardiographic data obtained yearly. Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses were performed to estimate event-free sur...
